How to Use the Editor
Getting Started
Welcome to the Advanced Image Editor! To begin, you can:
- Open Image: Click the "File" menu in the top right to open an existing image from your computer.
- Create New: Click the "File" menu and select "New" to create a blank canvas with custom dimensions.
Toolbar (Left / Bottom)
The toolbar contains all the essential tools for editing your image:
Move Tool (V): Select and move layers around the canvas. You can also resize and rotate selected objects using the transform controls.
Marquee Selection (M): Select rectangular areas of the canvas. (Currently in development)
Lasso Tool (L): Freehand selection tool. (Currently in development)
Crop Tool (C): Click and drag to define a crop area, then click "Apply Crop" to trim the canvas.
Brush Tool (B): Paint on the canvas using the foreground color. Adjust brush size in the top options bar.
Eraser Tool (E): Erase parts of a layer, making them transparent.
Text Tool (T): Click anywhere on the canvas to add text. Use the properties panel to change font, size, and color.
Shapes: Draw basic shapes like rectangles, ellipses, and lines.
Zoom Tool (Z): Click to zoom in. Hold Alt (or use the top bar options) to zoom out.
Color Picker: Click the foreground or background color squares to change the active colors used for painting and shapes.
Layers Panel (Right)
Manage multiple layers to build complex images:
- Add Layer: Add new images, text, or shapes which automatically become new layers.
- Reorder: Click the Up/Down arrows to move layers above or below others.
- Visibility: Click the eye icon to hide or show a layer.
- Blend Modes: Select a layer and change its blend mode (e.g., Multiply, Screen, Overlay) from the dropdown at the top of the layers panel.
- Opacity: Adjust the transparency of the selected layer.
Shortcuts & Features
- Undo/Redo: Use
Ctrl+Zto undo andCtrl+Y(orCtrl+Shift+Z) to redo your actions. Buttons are also available in the top bar. - Fullscreen: Click the fullscreen icon at the bottom of the tools panel (or press
F) to toggle a distraction-free editing mode. - Responsive: On mobile devices, the left toolbar moves to the bottom, and the right sidebar becomes a toggleable menu via the top-right button.
